A History of Women in the Law
In honor of Women's History Month, join us for a journey tracing the remarkable stories of women who overcame incredible obstacles to blaze the trail to become the first female lawyers and judges, and who have had a profound impact on the legal profession and society at large
Presenter Michele M. Jochner is a Partner with Chicago's Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP, the nation's largest law firm focusing exclusively on family law. Ms. Jochner, who heads the Firm's Appellate Practice, previously served as a Judicial Law Clerk for two Chief Justices of the Illinois Supreme Court: the late Hon. Mary Ann G. McMorrow and Hon. Charles E. Freeman. A recognized legal scholar, expert writer and educator to law students and attorneys, Ms. Jochner has authored more than 150 articles on a wide array of legal topics appearing in publications nationwide, and regularly speaks on legal issues to various groups across the State. She also is a well-known leader in the Chicago legal community, active with numerous groups including the Chicago Bar Association (CBA) and the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), as well as with community organizations, such as the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls and the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's Network. She has received numerous honors recognizing her contributions to the legal profession and the community at large, including being named one of 2013's "Women Making an Impact" by the Chicago Lawyer magazine, and being selected as the 2013 recipient of the Outstanding Service to the Profession Award by her alma mater, DePaul University College of Law.
