Date and Time
Wednesday Oct 12, 2016
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM CDT
Description
CORA WEBER, Illinois chapter president of US Parents Involved in Education
STOP FED ED is a campaign led by parents, taxpayers, and educators committed to ending Common Core and the U.S. Department of Education. The fight against Common Core has exposed the failures of those trying to force a federally-based one-size-fits-all curriculum on states and local school districts. Even strong Common Core supporters realize the name is toxic and have accepted the premise that the federal government should not be dictating curriculum.
So why have a federal education department? It’s about control and not about the children—that is, control through federal dollars. It’s big business that pushes an agenda. It’s time to STOP FED ED by abolishing the federal Department of Education and returning control of education to the states where it belongs.
