Engineering Intern

Are you a motivated civil engineering student looking to gain hands-on experience this summer? The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking four Engineering Interns to join the Engineering Division of the Public Works & Engineering Department. Through this paid internship, you will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience and contribute to projects in the Village of Arlington Heights that will leave a lasting impact on the community.

As an Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced project Engineers and learn the fundamentals of municipal engineering. You will assist in the design, field layout, and construction inspection of roadway, sidewalk, and utility improvements projects. Additionally, you will gain valuable exposure to public works operations and will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates must be at least eighteen years old, have completed at least one year in an accredited Civil Engineering program, and hold a valid Illinois driver’s license. The role requires the ability to work outdoors and lift up to fifty pounds. Interns will work full-time from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, for approximately twelve weeks. The hourly wage for this position begins at $19.00/hour, depending on experience.
