About the Position
The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking a detail-oriented and creative Communications & Events Specialist to coordinate community events and enhance communications and engagement throughout the Village. Under the direction of the Communications & Outreach Manager, the Communications & Event Specialist will assist with marketing and communication for village-sponsored events, concerts, and community gatherings.
 
The Communications & Events Specialist will be responsible for cultivating relationships with community stakeholders, securing sponsorships, coordinating with vendors, and assessing event success. This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends to provide on-site support at events. The Communications & Events Specialist will work a modified schedule when after-hours work is needed.
 
In addition, the Communications & Events Specialist will create engaging content for various communication channels, including e-newsletters, website, social media, and press releases. The Communications & Events Specialist will collaborate heavily with internal departments to assist with developing communication strategies, assist with hosting internal staff events, and promote recruitment and hiring goals.   
 
The ideal candidate will have four or more years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Strong project management skills, event planning, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Candidates should be proficient with using social media platforms in a professional setting. Experience with graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
 
The salary for this position is $67,238 (with a full range of $67,238 - $90,769). The Communications & Events Specialist will work a 37.5-hour work week and will be offered a diverse and competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid vacation, opportunities for professional development and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan.
