Part-Time Community Health Nurse

The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking a compassionate and experienced nursing professional to join our team as a part-time Community Health Nurse. As an integral member of the Nursing Division of the Health & Human Services Department, the Community Health Nurse provides essential healthcare services to residents through preventive care, screenings, education, and outreach programs.  

As a Community Health Nurse, you will support vulnerable residents in the community by conducting health assessments, providing immunizations, administering medications, and educating residents and families on managing medical conditions and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Work in this role is performed in resident’s homes, at clinic locations, and in school and community settings. The Community Health Nurse must have experience working with patients of all ages and must be comfortable working independently. Specific experience working with geriatric populations is a plus. The ability to effectively support clients with mental health challenges is required.     

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, be a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Illinois, have a valid Illinois Driver’s license, and be CPR certified. Candidates should hold vision and hearing screening certifications or have a willingness to obtain.  A minimum of 3 years of prior nursing experience is required. 

The hourly rate for this part-time position begins at $48.93 an hour. The regular schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 8:00 – 4:30, for a total of 22.5 hours a week.  The Community Health Nurse may occasionally be required to work alternate pre-scheduled hours to staff community events. As a part-time role, this position does not offer medical and dental insurance, but does offer paid time off (as provided to part-time employees) and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan. This position is open until filled.
