Social Worker - Disability & Geriatric Services
The Village of Arlington Heights is a seeking a Social Worker - Disability & Geriatric Services to join the Health & Human Services Department. This pivotal role focuses on supporting seniors and individuals with disabilities by providing direct services, advocacy, and community resources to meet their diverse needs.
With a focus on supporting seniors and individuals with disabilities, the Social Worker will provide direct services to residents including clinical assessments, case management, financial assistance, crisis intervention, and therapeutic support. Additionally, the Social Worker will provide resources and assist residents in accessing programs and support, including State and Federal benefits, transportation, housing, and other services.
The Social Worker will act as a community resource on disability issues and will provide recommendations to reduce barriers and address residents’ needs. As the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator for the Village of Arlington Heights, the Social Worker will monitor compliance with accessibility laws and will coordinate programs for residents with disabilities. Experience working with individuals with disabilities and knowledge of legislation and advocacy pertaining to disability rights is required.
The Social Worker will provide on-site individual and group therapy at the Senior Center focusing on grief/loss, coping strategies, caregiver support, aging in place and other life transitions. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the specific needs of senior citizens.
The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Social Work or related field and at least three years of direct clinical experience with a gerontology concentration. LCSW or LSW preferred. A valid IL driver’s license is required. The position will require certification in ADA and Home Modification within six months of hire.
The salary range for this position is $86,006 - $116,111, with an anticipated hiring range of $86,006 - $90,829, depending on qualifications and experience. The Social Worker will work a 37.5-hour work week and will be offered a diverse and competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid vacation, opportunities for professional development and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan.
